What the heck are you thinking?
As you read read this blog, you may wonder what my end goal for this bike is. Well, that's a tricky question. Right now I'd be happy with more or less as it sits, just capable of being a daily driver. Of course, I have to have a long term goal. A muse of sorts. There are a few that fit that bill, all of them reduced of anything that can be taken off that I can live without. Minimizing all turn signals, brake lights, mirrors etc. Also, it'll surely consist of a full fledged cafe seat and rear. Once those are in place, possibly before, I'll also have to figure out how to change the clutch/shifter into a rear-set configuration. Not the most comfy or safe combination of parts but considering this bike is going to be more form over function, that's just the price of admission.

So basically the entire bike is going to look about as different as it can look from its current condition....Hopefully you will decide to keep it red. And by red I mean its current red, no new paint job needed. I like it the way it is. Of the three bikes you posted pictures of, I like the bookends best. The one in the middle is my least favorite of the three. It looks too flashy, which has most to do with the paint job, but also the exhaust pipe(dont count that is a technical term unless it is the technical term). I don't like the angled ones for some reason. Not to mention the third picture is just a cool picture in general...reflection of the bike and all that. Of course that has nothing to do with the merit of the bike's purpose, just an observation on my part.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, sounds like the bike project is just about treating you right. What I mean is there is enough wrong with it to make it a good project and not so much wrong with it that it is gonna be a pain in your ass. Add that to the fact that your making some mods of your own and you have a very sweet project on your hands.
Continued good luck with it. I will keep looking for updates.
Yeah, I like the first bike the best myself, but it's really a track bike and not going to work for street use. No headlight, tail lights, nothing. The tank on mine, yeah I'm gonna keep it stock for a while. It's got a certain nostalgic look about it, kind of a peek into its past life that I dig. I agree with the pipes. The bike is built on a horizontal appeal, a lot of straight front to back appeal, angled pipes throw that off. :)
